Seberang Perai, Penang, 21 November 2020 – Majlis Bandaraya Seberang Perai (MBSP) and homegrown e-wallet Boost today announced that Boost users can now pay their MBSP bills with their e-wallets. This marks the first e-wallet integration in Malaysia to bring three bill payments into the cashless and contactless payments ecosystem.

Through this collaboration, the people of Seberang Perai will now be able to conveniently and safely make payments to MBSP for tax assessment, stall rental and parking compounds with just a few taps in the Boost app.

The event was officiated today by Yang Berhormat Tuan Jagdeep Singh Deo A/L Karpal Singh, Penang State Executive Councillor (EXCO) for Local Government, Housing and Town & Country Planning, witnessed by Yang Berbahagia Dato’ Sr. Hj Rozali B. Hj Mohamud, Mayor of Seberang Perai and Ungku Norliza Ungku Halmie, Director of Product & Marketing for Boost.

“The Penang state government recognizes the need for the state to undergo digital transformation to progress and develop economically and socially. Thus, as part of the Penang2030 vision, MBSP has been leading the way in making the cashless society aspiration a reality by pioneering cashless parking, then public markets and hawker stalls. Today, we are taking another first step to digitize the bill payments aspect of the city by partnering with Boost as a cashless payment,” said YBhg. Dato’ Sr Hj Rozali B. Hj Mohamud, Mayor of Seberang Perai.

As an enhanced feature to add value to the convenience of paying with Boost, users  can set a payment reminder for bills. This way, users can avoid missing routine bill payments. Users can also save their favourite billers for easy access which saves a lot of time from having to input account details before every payment made.

“Boost is proud to contribute towards the Penang state government’s goal to become a cashless society by 2030. Our partnership with MBSP aims to give convenience towards the people of Seberang Perai by enabling an accessible option for them to continue embracing a cashless and contactless lifestyle with e-wallets. This is in addition to providing a clean and safe way to perform transactions on a daily basis, especially in light of the pandemic,” said Ungku Norliza Ungku Halmie, Director of Product & Marketing, Boost.

Boost has also recently expanded the portfolio of its bill payments feature to include a wider range of telco postpaid options as well as new billers for electricity and water. Users  can stand a chance to win up to RM50 cashback when they pay their bills and top up with Boost. There is an additional cashback of RM2 when users complete a bill payments Boost Mission. On top of that, for every bill payment transaction done, users can earn Boost Coins that can be used to redeem cashback or prizes, as well as level up on BoostUP, the loyalty program, to earn bigger rewards.
