Kuala Lumpur, 14 Nov 2019 – Homegrown and leading lifestyle e-wallet Boost is sponsoring four out of six e-sports teams consisting of the nation’s nine top professional e-sports players who will be representing Malaysia at the upcoming SEA Games 2019 in the Philippines this December. The sponsorship is part of Boost’s initiative to contribute to the co-development of the local e-sports industry.
Mohd Khairil Abdullah, CEO of Boost shared his perspective on Boost’s move in supporting the local e-sports industry as part of the ‘Boost Your Game’ campaign: “E-sports is one of the fastest growing competitive sports in the world today and Malaysia is no exception. We see tremendous growth potential in the country and we believe that our local talent has the ability to thrive in the e-sports and gaming scene given the right resources and facilities to nurture their skills and progress.”
Presently, approximately one-third of Boost’s user base consists of gamers and entertainment content fans. The e-wallet serves as a digital platform that enables users to enjoy various gaming services including instant gaming credit purchase from Steam, Garena, PlayStation and Razer.
Boost is currently running a promotion where users enjoy RM5 cashback when they purchase game credits in the Boost app and if they pay with their e-wallet at selected online and offline partners.
The e-sports athletes being sponsored by Boost include Zaba, Malaysia’s top Tekken 7 player, Ranger, Malaysia’s top Starcraft 2 player, WKYew, Malaysia’s top Hearthstone player and Seven, Drmcp, TaintedOnes, Kun, Ryo as well as Kc who make up Malaysia’s top Arena of Valor team.
“As a brand that is built in Malaysia, by Malaysians for Malaysians, coupled with a significant user base of gamers, we want to engage, grow and support the local gaming scene as well as aspiring professional gamers to compete at the highest level.
“‘Boost Your Game’ is our way of empowering homegrown Malaysian talent with the resources they need to develop their game further. As the market shifts towards a more digital lifestyle, we will continue to drive the nation towards that future in the best way we can. We also hope that our endorsement to the national players will serve in giving e-sports recognition as a mainstream competitive sport in the country that will bring home gold medals for Malaysia,” concluded Khairil.
