Boost Keeps CNY Traditions Alive Virtually with Ox-picious Offers, Deals and Cashback
Merchants also enjoy CNY cheer as Boost continues to help local entrepreneurs pull through current challenging business climate
Kuala Lumpur, 9 February 2021 – With Chinese New Year (CNY) fast approaching, homegrown e-wallet Boost has introduced Ox-picious offers, deals and cashback for consumers and merchants to encourage safe, cashless and contactless shopping in preparation of ushering in the Lunar New Year. Boost has also brought back its popular e-Ang Pow feature since there are almost no physical extended family reunion dinners and house hopping this year following the extension of the Movement Control Order (MCO).
These CNY offers are part of Boost’s larger #BoostGotYou campaign launched last March during the first MCO as Malaysians learned to stay safe in the new normal. The #BoostGotYou campaign features innovative services and solutions for Malaysians to carry out necessary tasks with contactless convenience such as paying bills, buying prepaid top-ups to stay connected with loved ones, online shopping, getting insurance protection and supporting local merchants.
Ungku Norliza Syazwan Ungku Halmie, Director of Product and Marketing of Boost said, “Chinese New Year is an important occassion that all Malaysians look forward to. This year, the CNY celebration will be slightly different with many families having virtual gatherings. We try to emulate the excitement of CNY by bringing back the e-Ang Pow feature. But, most importantly, we hope to protect our community with a safer online shopping experience so that our users can still enjoy the CNY festive spirit. We also encourage fellow Malaysians to continue to support local merchants in this challenging time to help them sustain their businesses. All these are intended to continue the CNY traditions and ring in a prosperous and ‘Huat’ new year through the vibrant cashless ecosystem that Boost has to offer for all Malaysians.”
Keeping CNY Traditions Alive Virtually
Boost is once again bringing back its e-Ang Pow feature to keep the festive spirit and cheer alive. Users can choose from 6 vibrant e-Ang Pow packet designs with the option to include a personalized greeting as a way to retain the all-important Ang Pow gifting tradition to spread good luck and blessings.
Users can also send a customized e-Ang Pow to up to 10 people at any one time in equal or different amounts for each recipient. Recognizing that Lunar New Year is a time for celebration all around, Boost also ensures Malaysians can channel their e-Ang Pows as e-donations to a list of NGOs and charities found in the Boost app to always care for those in need during this challenging period.
Premium Boost users can send and receive e-Ang Pows, while Basic e-wallet users can only receive. The recipient of the e-Ang Pow must open within 12 hours upon receiving it, otherwise, the e-Ang Pow value will be returned to the sender.
With Malaysians getting accustomed to the new normal and shopping online to prepare for the festivities, Boost users should be on the lookout for smarter shopping deals that help them get more for less. On offer are plenty of exciting collaborations with online merchant partners to offer users not just a safer way to shop but greater savings of up to 28% cashback. This is applicable for food preparations from Potboy, JOCOM, and MyCookingStory; food delivery from EASI and McDelivery; as well as home decorating, wellness and fashion from Zalora, Watsons Online and Bloomspace.co.
Gamers can also enjoy cashback and additional Boost Coins when buying game credit on Google Play, PlayStation and UniPin for fun filled online gaming sessions with loved ones as part of virtual CNY gatherings this year.
Support Local and Bringing More Cheer To Merchants
Boost merchants themselves can also look forward to more CNY cheer from Boost as they stand to win up to RM450,000 worth of prizes and rewards under the newly launched ‘Boost Jer Kaw-Kaw & Menang!’ campaign for merchants. Prizes in this campaign include a grand prize of a Proton X50 Executive, premium Samsung and Apple gadgets as well as consolation prizes of RM888 for 30 merchants weekly.
With the MCO still in place, traditional brick-and-mortar merchants can continue to run their businesses by transacting and accepting payments via the Boost Business Payment Link feature to simplify payment collection. This feature allows their customers to make purchases online using familiar platforms like WhatsApp. From now till 3rd April 2021, for every RM10 a user spends via the Boost Business Payment Link or by scanning the physical Boost QR in-stores, the merchant will earn one (1) entry to stand a chance to win prizes. The higher the transaction amount, the more entries the merchant will receive.
Boost strongly urges Malaysians across the country to do their part to safely support local businesses while stimulating the local economy by using Boost for clean and safe contactless payments. All these amazing ‘Jom Support Lokal’ initiatives can be found under ‘What’s New’ section in the homepage as part of our dedication to the Microenterprise and SME (MSME) community to benefit from the #BoostGotYou campaign during CNY together.
